    hidden-rpc v1.2.0

    blurtd now keeps itself up to date

    Until now hidden-rpc downloaded blurtd once, at install, and never again, so upstream fixes never reached a node. The September 2026 fix for a crash that any peer could trigger with one transaction is one of those.

    Now each node:

    • checks for a newer blurtd every 6 hours, at its own random time;
    • installs it only after it has been out for a day, and only while the node is working;
    • stops blurtd cleanly first, so there is no replay;
    • checks the node is serving again afterwards, and switches back to the previous version by itself if it isn't.

    The tray shows Updating the node software while this runs, and the menu shows which blurtd build the node is on.

    To upgrade: run the installer on each node. Nothing else is needed. The fixed blurtd arrives within a few hours.

    Also fixed

    • The tray icon's "keep restarting it" setting never took effect. It was in a section of its service file that systemd ignores.
    • --help cut off its last five options.
    • I2P's restart setting now uses the same safe writer as Tor.
